The Canadian Rockies (2)
On the second day we took a tour for the Columbia Icefield.

This is the Herbert Lake. It is not emerald green because a melting glacier doesn't flow in the lake. This is the Crawfoot Glacier like a toe of a bird. Originally it had three claws, but it lost one claw. This is the Snow Bird Glacier. It looks like a bird stretching a neck below.
This is the Peyto Lake. It is very beautiful emerald green. The color specially stands out if you see it from a tall mountain. This is the Athabasca Glacier that flows from the Columbia Icefield. It withdraws every year for the global warming. You can stand the Athabasca Glacier by Snocoach. The 6 tires are formed from very big and special rubber.
It's very cold and glaring on the glacier. Warm clothes and sunglasses are necessary. Blue water streams on the surface. There are crevasses if you walk around carelessly. They are very dangerous. Glacier streams at a speed of dozens of meters a year. It is maximum 300 meters thick.
This is the sun in smoke. We passed around here for 2 days. In Canada the forest fire breaks out very often. This is the Bow Falls. It was the location point for the very famous movie "The River No Return" starring Marilyn Monroe. A foreign family takes a canoe in an emerald river near Banff. This time we really enjoyed cycling for one day, but next time we'd like to enjoy canoe, rafting and horse riding.
